A Lethal Case of Natural Infection with the H5N8 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus of Clade 2.3.4.4 in a Mandarin Duck

چکیده
Recent global outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses (HPAIVs) the H5N8 subtype in poultry and wild birds have raised concerns about animal human health, particularly after its first evidence zoonotic transmission from to humans. Here, we report a lethal infection with HPAIV mandarin duck that had previously demonstrated resistance infection. In addition, revealed isolated virus was genetic reassortant between existing LPAIV(s). Although further studies are warranted assess impact reassortment on pathogenicity, potential role ducks dissemination should be re-evaluated.

Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (H5N8) Clade 2.3.4.4 Infection in Migratory Birds, Egypt
We isolated highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N8) of clade 2.3.4.4 from the common coot (Fulica atra) in Egypt, documenting its introduction into Africa through migratory birds. This virus has a close genetic relationship with subtype H5N8 viruses circulating in Europe. Enhanced surveillance to detect newly emerging viruses is warranted.
متن کاملA novel highly pathogenic H5N8 avian influenza virus isolated from a wild duck in China
Migrating wild birds are considered natural reservoirs of influenza viruses and serve as a potential source of novel influenza strains in humans and livestock. During routine avian influenza surveillance conducted in eastern China, a novel H5N8 (SH-9) reassortant influenza virus was isolated from a mallard duck in China. blast analysis revealed that the HA, NA, PB1, PA, NP, and M segments of SH...
متن کاملExperimental infection of dogs with highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N8)
During the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N8 virus outbreak in Korea, a dog in layer farm contaminated by H5N8 was reported seropositive for HPAI H5N8. To investigate the possibility of adaptation and transmission of HPAI H5N8 to dogs, we experimentally inoculated dogs with H5N8. Viral genes were weakly detected in nasal swabs and seroconversions in inoculated and contact dogs. Alth...
متن کاملMortality of wild swans associated with naturally infection with highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza virus in Iran
In the February 2006 in two wetlands in northern Iran, the mortality among wild swans was observed. Paralysis was the most prominent feature of the disease. Histologically, diffused necrosis of acinar cells in pancreas, degeneration and necrosis of some neurons in central nervous system (CNS), sever necrotic and hemorrhagic enteritis, foci of haemorrahge and myocardial cell necrosis in the he...
متن کاملReassortant Clade 2.3.4.4 Avian Influenza A(H5N6) Virus in a Wild Mandarin Duck, South Korea, 2016
A reassortant clade 2.3.4.4 avian influenza A(H5N6) virus was isolated from a fecal sample of a Mandarin duck (Aix galericulata) in South Korea during October 2016. This virus was genetically similar to H5N6 subtype virus isolates from China, Vietnam, Laos, and Hong Kong, including human isolates.
